“Any news from the match?”

The match has started, but you're not there. You're working, taking another child somewhere, or simply live too far away. A message says there's been a goal. For which side? Who scored? Has your child come on yet? You wait for the next update.

On the touchline, another parent is watching. Logging a goal or a substitution takes them a few seconds. Those small updates let you follow what's happening instead of waiting for the final score.

That's how SEV7N works: someone at the match logs events on their phone, and invited family and friends follow from elsewhere. The coach or assistant also gets a record they can return to long after the final whistle.

“They played about half an hour, didn't they?”

After a match, you remember the great goal, the crucial save or the shot that skimmed the post. The comings and goings are harder to piece together. You remember thirty minutes on the pitch; the recorded substitutions add up to twenty-five.

It's the same over a season: how many goals has this player scored? Who played in the last few matches? When memory is all you have, the answers become rough estimates.

For parents and coaches, a record of events helps answer those questions. In SEV7N, playing time depends on the lineup and substitutions you log. Goals and other statistics come from recorded events. You can look back at what was entered instead of trying to reconstruct the match days later.

You still need to log the changes: an incomplete record won't become accurate on its own. Our guide explains how to track and calculate minutes played.

Already at the match? Help others follow it.

A parent on the touchline or the assistant coach on the bench can keep the record. An event takes just a few taps as it happens. There's no camera to set up and no phone left filming on a tripod for the whole match.

You choose what to record. Just the score and substitutions? Start there. Want to count saves and shots too? Add them. Not interested in corners or the opposition's offsides? Leave them out.

SEV7N lets you log goals, assists, shots, substitutions, cards, goalkeeper saves, injuries, corners, free kicks, offsides, tackles and defensive stops. You mainly track your own team, in as much detail as you find useful. Remember to enter the opposition's goals too, so the score stays correct.

Before kick-off, agree who's doing it and what you'll record. If several people contribute, split the tasks: one handles goals and substitutions, another the other events. That helps avoid logging the same event twice.

Follow more than the final result

Invited family and friends can see the lineup, positions, bench and any absences you've entered. They follow the clock, score and events as someone logs them. When a player comes on or a goal is recorded, they can keep up with the game.

The timeline also gives context: several shots, a save, a substitution, then a goal. It shows the events that were logged and their order. It doesn't automatically measure possession or capture everything that happened on the pitch.

Notifications let you receive selected match events. On a compatible iPhone, a Live Activity can keep the match on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Availability depends on your device and enabled permissions.

Video or match updates: comparing the options

Reviewing a run, showing players a clip, preparing a debrief: video offers something an event log can't. Veo and XbotGo are worth considering if you want footage. Their tools automate framing or parts of video processing, so you don't necessarily have to watch the whole match to find an incident.

The right choice depends on your needs: watching footage afterwards, streaming video, or knowing the score, scorers and substitutions as they happen. Here's the equipment and annual subscription for five options.

For Cam 3 with Starter, this example comes to €1,878 excluding tax in year one, combining camera and subscription, before tripod and extras, at the regular non-promotional price. Equipment is an initial purchase; the subscription is a recurring cost.

Video makes sense if you plan to use the footage. If you mainly want to know who scored, who played and how the match unfolded, SEV7N keeps that record without a camera. Someone at the ground logs the chosen events; family and friends follow along. If your club already films, both approaches can work together.

What about the parents' WhatsApp group?

A WhatsApp group is useful too. It does a perfectly good job of sending “1–0!” to the other parents. But finding scorers, substitutions and playing time later means piecing together scattered messages. SEV7N keeps those details in the match, provided someone has logged them.

A notebook may be enough for a coach who wants personal notes. Live sharing adds another possibility: what someone records at the ground can also help family and friends who aren't there.

Your team, your way of following the match

In SEV7N, you create your team, add your players and set up the match. The club directory can help you find your club, but it doesn't automatically import your squad from a federation. The lineup and events remain yours to enter.

You can track a small group of three players or a full eleven-a-side team. Set the match length and lineup to suit your format. There's no need to wait for your fixture to appear in a results app.

Events are logged manually, with no video or automatic detection. A parent, assistant coach or another contributor must be there to enter them. If nobody logs anything, there are no events for others to follow.

You can try it free with three active matches and up to five archived matches. For a full season history and more collaborative tracking, Premium is €19.99 per year. Contribution features and limits are set out in your plan. See the pricing and included features.

For your first try, keep it simple: set up the team, choose who will log events and invite family and friends before kick-off. Our getting-started guide walks you through it.
